W203 7.5 amp (fuse 8?) blowing.

Hi, I've had a quick look through threads but can't find anything which helps, so........

The 7.5 amp (I think its fuse 8) for the central locking keeps blowing. Does anyone have any pointers where to look for the cause?

2005 W203 180 Kompressor.

I’d check your alarm siren isn’t full of water. It’s located at the back of the nearside front wheelarch, behind the plastic liner

As above , just unplug it . If the fuse does not blow just leave the alarm sender where it is and forget about it.

Thanks both - you've confirmed what i've read elsewhere. There's a couple of good YouTube videos showing what to do (make sure its the RHD version!).

Is it worth replacing the siren if I'm in that deep? Jobsworth: are you still breaking the 220CDi? is it the same siren?

Can anyone shed any light please?….Car has been into the garage for MOT (passed no problems ) whilst it was in there they had a look for the siren in question but were unable to locate it despite looking both sides? Could it be located elsewhere? If there isn’t a siren or it’s already been removed what could be causing the fuse to blow?

It was the siren..... £200 inc labour to diagnose and replace.
