Good Afternoon MB Club members, hope you are all well.

I have a problem in that the lights of my c class start flashing sometimes for apparantly no reason at all (after I lock it and leave it). The alarm does not sound but the lights flash... to remedy the situation I have to unlock it, (then the alarm sounds) and I have to re-lock it again... it then seems to be ok. It does not happen all the time...but I've noticed it a few times over the last couple of weeks and have tried to search and find out what it can be but have been unsuccessful. Could it be a rusty siren?! or dying battery?! Or something completely different... I really am stuck!

The doors all open and lock fine...I had 'machine gun'/bouncing front passenger button about 6 months ago ... but I had a new door lock fitted by MB when they did the B service on the car last Oct and that sorted that issue out fine.

Any help would really be much appreciated, thanks.

ahh that actually is suppose to do that if you leave the car without looking it.Its suppose to remind you that uve left the car unoccupied but without looking it!!

i mean when you don't lock it.Also when i mean flashing, its like a strobe flash then appose to alrm light flashing!!

Thank you very much for your response.

Ok what you are saying makes sense I think...I'm loosing it that must mean!

I could swear I locked it because why then when I unlock does it start sounding the alarm?!

Also do you know how long it takes for this to start happening?

I thought that after a while if you forget to lock it just locks itself...Or is that if you unlock it and don't open the door within about half a minute I think?

Also I think I understand what you mean by strobe flashing (it should be faster) but the pace of the flashing is the same as alarm flashing...if that makes sense!

No, you're correct. The vehicle will re-lock itself if you unlock (from locked) but do not open any door. Normally about 30 seconds later - I believe this is a standard Thatcham requirement.

Ok so today I parked up at work all day nothing...

Then As I'm walking to the car at the end of the day I see it flashing! What is going on. Please help and I 100% locked it and all the buttons were down. I tried opening the boot and it didn't open. I had to unlock it a few times with the remote (first time alram sounded) then after a few times unlocking/locking it stopped! Pls Pls help!

which lights are you meaning ? Hazards? Headlights? I am assuming you mean the hazard/indicators.

Ok NOW the alarm just went off (it's just the hazards/indicators flashing I established) for no reason I'm quite sure...HELP!!! Please guys!!!

I had this problem with my (now extinct) W202 some years back. The hazards/indicators would flash intermittently, but fortunately not the alarm. I just let it get on with it and eventually it stopped. Lasted about six months and that was it.
