As far as I know one way to spot a faulty coil pack when you have a misfire (and no code reader) is by the white stains on the plastic indicating overheating.
My car seems fine, no sign of trouble whatsoever and no fault codes (I do have a code reader).
However when removing the engine cover recently, I noticed that one of the BERU coil pack looks as if it has whiteesh deposits, almost like stains from a dried coolant spill. I wiped it off and it now looks a bit cleaner but some of the whitey colour is well baked into the plastic.
I was wondering what do you think - should I replace it pre-emptively or wait for the dreaded misfire? I am happy to fork-out for a new one if the white colour indeed suggest impending doom.
Thanks!
