i am away from the car at the moment but would like to buy an oil filter i have noticed there are two types??

the paper cartrige type as shown in this video

and also the traditional type... are they interchangeable?? how do i know which one my car has?? cheers
 
I never seen OM61x or OM64x engines anything that paper filters...

edit: when you go to shop, isn't there usually filter manufacturers catalogue, where you can check corrent filter code/type for your car?

Simply order one from Mercedes.
They are not expensive, they are good quality and it will fit and have the correct flow rates. etc
 
So they come off easy? Iv not done this type before. Normally just put a screw driver through the canister ones

There are special tools for them (just check diam and number of flutes correctly), or use universal belt/chain type opener (note limited space to use them). It might be too tight for fingers only :)
