W203 c270 cdi cutting out epc light abd p1187 code

Just got in from work cars been left since about 6/7pm last night. Took id say 5/6 turns of the engine but fired up. Then after that 2/3 turns and it fires up. Before pump fitted id always have to use easy start to get it going so id day the starting issue is sorted. Just the cutting out issue now. Got a fuel reg seal kit coming tomorrow and a fuel filter so going to get that on and see if it makes a difference, if it still cuts out i will do a leak off test under load

Still got the starting issue :( wouldnt start this morning without easy start :(

Just cut out on me and refusing to run now starts on easy start then cuts out straight away

Where abouts in the UK are you. Can you read actual values? Is it the same fault code logged?

Littlehampton west sussex. I have a very basic scanner but doesnt have live data. Keeps coming up with fuel pressure

Just had another scanner on it its only reading up to 60 bar when cranking then drops rapidly. Suggestions?

Right.... After a few hours looking over it, it turns out that there is a fuel issue. When i changed the filter the old one barely had any diesel in it which i thought was strange, the pipe going from the filter to the low pressure pump was empty and when i took the pipe off that goes from the high pressure pump to the injector rail this was also empty. The car is saying it has 1/4 tank of diesel and has always been acurate. When i take the pipe off that goes into the filter and crank nothing is coming out of it. Im guessing there is an electric pump in the tank that should prime but isnt as no fuel is coming out. Ive checked the fuse and thats ok. Ive had to walk away as its really bugging me. Anyone got any suggestions? Do the pumps in the tank play up or the fuel level gauge?

I think your problem is in the fuel tank,as you have a "saddlebag" tank it might not be transferring to the supply side from passenger side(pump return),hence engine cuts out.

Fill the tank up, sounds stupid but I had a very similar problem and filling it up worked! Afew others have had the same issue!

Not stupid,as both sides of the tank will be full(no transfer needed).

Nothing will come out, there's no pump in the tank. Its pulled up by the low pressure pump on the top of the front of engine, the o rings on the clear pipes can have nics and cause the fuel to fun back to the tank, if you change a fuel filter you should bleed the fuel system. And then it can still be a ass to start, after it started you must take on a run other wise it will struggle to start again. Air bubbles get trapped and has to have a run. Revving the engine up won't clear the air bubbles after the fuel system has been distributed

I have seen the fuel tank issues as above too. Fill it up and take for a run, and see what happens, have you got the numbers of your new pump?

It's actually the pressure from the return side of the fuel pump that allows
the venturi in the tank to transfer fuel.

I don't have a saddle tank in mine and filling it up gave it the pressure it needed to work somehow! But I do get what you are saying!!

£15 in it and after 2 jump packs it fired up. Its got saddle tank syndrome any idea how i can solve this

Hi I had a similar problem on my clk 270. One of the plastic pipes that go to high pressure pump must of had a hole or crack. Change them all. Not that expensive. If they have a tiny hole you get leak back . Mine also started with easy start. Been perfect ever since

That is my next move to be fair. anyone know the part numbers for all the pipes?

Just ring merc parts dept . They will help you . Hope you get it sorted. I no its very frustrating !

Chassis number and will get you part numbers,
