The silver one.
Out in wifes car today and the fan was very noisy, not a mechanical noise but just the amount of air it was pushing out.

Than later on went out in my car completely different much quieter even though the fan was shifting a lot of air as well.

Any ideas, or all w203 models as noisy as this?

Was thinking a/c may be low on gas but when temp turned down to 16 the air is freezing so pretty certain its doing the business.

Just checking russian site and here http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=1&F=203764&M=112%2E946&GA=722%2E618&GM=716%2E660716%2E667&CT=F&cat=66U&SID=83&SGR=045&SGN=01 item 70 shows as 2 seperate filters inside the car similiar set up as my w210 maybe they are blocked if its got them that is?

Pollen filter could be blocked, usually shows as poor airflow rather than noisy air flow.

Mine makes a fair bit of noise until the temp has stabilised. You could try taking it out of Auto mode by adjusting the fan speed manually?

There's a few things that could be wrong, but if the air is blasting through OK, then that's probably just how it is.

I notice it more on mine in cold weather when it's on demist - as the engine warms up the fan speed increases until it's almost deafening.

Could be excess dust on the actual A/C fan, u could take it out and give it a clean.

Filter under the bonnet is recent 3 months ago ish, wife seems to think its always been like this, so i will probably ignore it, apart from having a look to see if its got the 2 filters in the cabin.

Anyway thanks for the replies i will post up pics again if i find extra filters.

The handbook for my W203 says that if all the vents are left in the halfway open position then good ventilation with minimum noise will be achieved.

Trust me they are lying:D.

One thought had occured to me as her car is black i wonder if it gets considerably hotter inside than my silver car, ie heat absorption?

I think the climate control really doesn't work very well in C Class. Although it can blow cold air, it still seems to struggle to keep the car cool.
Maybe the digital version is better, but I came from having a company Peugeot 406 Executive and the climate control in that was much better.
