Hi could some one advise please?

I have to replace the climate control switch unit on my 2002 C class coupe as the red light benaeth the climate control switch is permanently lit.

Could someone advise please

I understand that I can use either part number A203 830 07 85 or A209 830 03 85 in my car is there another unit which will fit & work ?

I have been offered A209 830 00 85 anyone know whcih model this comes from or if it will work in my car

regards & thanks Dave

Dave,

When the red light is on below my A/C switch - the system needs regassing.
Are you sure the unit needs replacing??

Have just fitted new climate control unit purchased from someone breaking a w203 coupe, EC light is no longer constantly "On" although when using the right hand control knob the direction of air seems to be incorrect .

Anyone?

If you have 'climate control' then as far as I'm aware when you're in 'Auto' the microbrain ignores all the fan speed and direction settings and just gets on with it.

Mind you, I ddo vaguely recalll reading that sometimes the stepper motors that drive the directional flaps need resetting, though I can't recall how to do it.

Someone will be along soon.........

Sure it's in the manual but it is to do with holding the air con switch until it flashes or something.

If one adjusts the direction control the unit will become semi-auto, still automatically control the fan speed.
Conversely if you adjust the fan speed the unit will still control the direction.

Press the Auto button to go into total manual.

If the unit is a direct replacement then the flaps will need 'normalising' done by pressing and holding the recirc and demist buttons until they start flashing. Normalising takes about 30 sec
