W203 Coupe front seats fold forward

Only had my 2003 pre facelift W203 coupé for a couple of weeks and haven't used the rear seats but next week I will have to. I have non electric seats.
The problem is that the catches on the top of the seats do release the backrests and allow the back rest to tilt forward but that doesn't give enough room to get in rear seats.

Is there an easy way for the back rest to tilt forward and the base to slide forward?
Am I doing something wrong?

It should all move forward and tilt in one easy movement surely?

On mine the seat only moved forward when the seat was slide back a bit to give more leg room to the driver and passenger. If the seat was forward they only tilted

i had the same problem, if the seats in the front are to far foward, then they will not lift fully up to allow a lot of room for rear passenges to get in an out. if you have the front seats set quite far back, they should lift in 2 movements, the back should come foward, then the seat should lift upwards. hope this makes sense

You might need extension rails

Not sure if this would be any help to you but if you still dont have enough space then you can always get seat rail extension. Diagram attached. HTH.
