Could someone tell me how to solve this problem please ?

I went to open my panoramic roof this afternoon & found it was stuck in the closed position, I could feel slight movement above the switch but the glass didn't move.

I assume the motor is working as the roof opened fine last summer, can I just wind it open & lubricate the runners which silicon spray.

Anyone suffered with this problem ?

Have you looked through the cars tools?
I seem to remember when I owned a W203 that there was a gold coloured metal bar type tool used when sunroof electrics failed.
Think you insert it somewere by the roof control buttons (may have to remove piece of trim first to locate winding device?) and wind the thing manually. Think the idea is to allow you to wind in the roof to close if electrics fail, though assume opposite (your case) could apply???
You now have access to the roof mechanism/runners for lubrication.

should tell you in the owners manual how to operate the roof manually, pretty much all electrically operated sunroof equiped cars have a manual backup.

Lubricating sunroof mechanism

Thanks guys, after reading the manual, I found the answer it turned that it needed resetting, as I had disconnected the electrics during the winter when I fitted a new battery, so it was just a two minute job.

Moving on, does anyone know of any vital lubrication points on the panoramic roof set up, I;ll get some silicon lubricant tomorrow & do the runners & everywhere I can get to, but are there any other parts

Hi, I've got the same problem after removing the battery i.e. sunroof clicks once but does not open. I can's see in the manual how to reset it (on a 2004 W203) - can anyone with the manual advise?

Many thanks folks,

Dobbs.

Hi,

If this happens to you do the following:

Press and hold the sunroof switch towards the front of the car so that the sun blinds close fully.

Next pull the switch towards the rear of the car so that the blinds open fully.

That should reset the sunroof and it should now open - it's worked on mine :thumb:
