C220 CDI
Hi,
New to the club, sorry if this has been covered before!
Had my '51 220 cdi auto for 10 months now - still not right!
Suffered excessive smoke, loss of power (what happens after 2500 rpm?), loss of kick down.. sounds familiar?
First indie said "MAF" & changed it, slight improvement - short lived.
Second indie said possibly EGR although not sure as no fault codes showing.
Out of desperation I went to MB dealers who just relieved of £700 for replacement intercooler.
Parting shot from service manager was "could have been caused by blocked cat, we can do that for another £900".
I came away! Drove okay for 100 miles or so, then back to 2500 rpm etc.
Help ! all thoughts welcome !!

I was just about to go to a garage and pay for an electrical diagnosis (after trying everything I could think of including removing the front cat and substituting various bits off a sprinter) when I had a brainwave. I took off the exhaust clamp just after the first cat - and bingo. No limp mode and great responsive acceleration. now all I need is to try and blow out the second cat - and hopefully after that it can only be the silencer at the back.
The clamp pops off in no time and I wish I'd tried it first.

did you get any further with this as i have a similar problem

Similar problem on my 2003 C220CDi. MB Garage could not diagnose it.....

Called PCS at Horndean and told it was probably 1 of 3 things and went for a diagnostic. Diagnostic done quickly and cheaply...

Turned out to be a faulty Throttle Pedal, swapped quickly, all sorted :)
