My rear left corner parking sensor has a little bit of the clear coating that has worn off a little bit and has been like that for a wee while.

Now yesterday when i had the car in neutral in the middle of the local shop carpark with nothing around me the rear sensor light bar in the roof of the car showed for bars on the left side. There was definitely nothing there and the sensor is totally clean.

Is it the clear coating that is causing the problem or has the sensor got a little corroded due to the coating being worn off?

Does this just need cleaned up and a bit of TLC or do i need a new sensor? If so what sort of prices am i looking at and can it be done easily enough with a normal ****nal of tools lying around the garage?

Cheers

You can get the sensor checked on STAR to see if its faulty. Replacing it is not difficult but you need to remove the bumper to change the sensor. New sensor is about £30 IIRC and you will need to colour code it.

Yeh i definitely know about getting colour coded. Mate bought a sensor off ebay for his 5 series but forgot about getting colour coded and now has a black standard sensor in the back of his silver bumper lol.

Will try and get on star when i get a chance. Its not really bad like it thinking it is too close to something and constantly beeping...it only shows 4 bars in on the left so just need to re-learn how to use the mirrors to reverse lol.
