Hi all
I have just had a B service on my 2006 W203 C220 CDi carried out by a main dealer who sold me the car and have done all services on it since
I asked them to price match the £280 that l had been quoted by a MB dealer in Leicester including the four year plus reduction and they did so l went with them
It needed the brake fluid change too under ESS at £85 and two new tyres so a final bill of £700

When l got the car back and looked at the invoice, it stated Shell oil had been used.
OQOILPC9 SHELL OIL QTY 13.00 UNIT PRICE £4.00 NET TOTAL £52.00
I thought MB always use Mobil to maintain the Mobilo warranty and did l really get a price match or just cheaper materials used?
I will have to contact the dealer to find out what oil to use to top it up if needed

I won't mention the damage to the wheel faces here or name the garage, but would appreciate advice on the engine oil before l raise it with them or complete the customer satisfaction report.

Best wishes to all

Any oil that meets MB Spec Sheet 229.3/239.31 or 229.5/229.51 is fine.

(The 'x1' is low-ash required for some diesel engines - DPF equipped).

Mobil, Castro, Shell, Petronas..

I believe that Mobil 1 is only mandatory for AMG cars.

They would have used an oil that meets MB spec. Many dealers switched to Shell some time ago.

Mobil1 has nothing to do with Mercedes Mobilo.

Mercedes use petronas oil for factory fill now.

Thanks very much for the replies, so the Mobilo cover will still apply?
I mistakenly thought it had to have Mobil oil

Thanks again for the reassurance

Just similar names but with a common linguistic root.

Mobilo= Mercedes help system to keep you on the move

Mobil= brand name of chemical products that keep you on the move

In both cases its an aspiration rather than a fact- you got to hand it to those marketing boys! ;)

can I buy Mobil Oil on line is it cheaper, what sites do you use?

Generally, Opie Oils provide good service at a very reasonable price.

Euro Car Parts are a sponsor here and provide discount to forum members ordering online.

Costco - if you are a member - have good deals on Mobil 1 oils though their selection is small, usually just one of two types of Mobil 1 on sale at any time.
