w203 1.8 petrol auto. engine seems to hunt from time to time. not happening all the time? any ideas? many Thanks.

Just bought one of these and my engine hunts but only when first started from cold, couple of quick blips on the throttle and it settles down and runs fine.

Having said that, the yellow engine light came on yesterday afternoon but no noticeable alteration in performance or response of the engine and transmission.

Suspect I have an impending trip to our local specialist, TM Motors, to get some ideas of what I can claim under warranty from the dealer.:(

Typically
- Vacuum leak
- Breather hose kit replacement needed (4 hour job) (every 4-5 years)
- rocker cover leak (rubber seals)

After renewal, the engine will consume less fuel and have noticeably more power between 1-2000 RPM.

As stated breather hose that runs under the airbox, 40mins job for someone who ha done loads, you can hear a vacuum hiss when running if you listen by the airbox front.

I have this too, I have the hunting when cold and also the hiss, any guides or is it straight forward?
