Hello all, it's been a while (voice of Jim out of Friday Night Dinner).

My 2004 C class estate rumbles on, 170K miles. It's just gone though it's MOT, however, in order to get it through its MOT, the local mechanic swapped the wiring round on the front and rear washer jets.

I like his initiative, but, the thing is, there was nothing wrong with the front washer jets, in fact they were the one solid thing on the car.

I suspect he tried them with the bonnet open or perhaps used the stalk incorrectly.

I now want to swap the wiring back, the mechanic is busy until January and I've got a lot of driving to do over Christmas and New Year, so being relatively handy, I was going to swap them back.

What I'm lacking is, the location of the wires, is anyone able to point me in the right direction?

TLDR; Need location of wires for front and rear washer jets on W203 estate.

Not fully understanding . He took the live feed from the front washers to activate the rear screen washer ?

If so he wasted his (and your) time , the rear wiper and wash is not required for MOT .

Sorry, I've probably done a crap job of explaining. He basically swapped the front and rear wires in order to get the front washer jet working to get through the MOT.

However, both were live, I suspect he wasn't using the controls correctly, the rear washer is a twist to activate, whilst the front requires pushing the stalk in, which I reckon he missed.

When he swapped out the wires he could use the rear twist mechanism and assumed he's successfully bodged things to get it through the MOT with a functioning front washer jet.

I now want to swap the wires back as there was sweet FA wrong with the wiring in the first place.

From your description I suspect he swapped the plugs on the pumps at the washer reservoir.
Assuming you don't have headlamp wash there will be only 2 pumps into that reservoir, swap the plugs back.

Ah got ya, that would make perfect sense, thank you very much, I'll give that a whirl later today!

Hello I have a problem with my rear wash? The water is flowing striate back to the washer bottle witch means you have to hold the rear wash switch on for a long time before the water sprays on the screen. I think its the non return valve but I cannot find it? I have looked at the pump in the wheel arch but all looks good there, I was thinking it was in the pump but it is a single pump with two outlets. Please can anyone help.

It is best to start a new thread specific to you problem.

Buy a non return valve from Halfords or somewhere on line and fit it into the accessible pipe work.

Did this work? The forum thrives on knowledge from others so responding with confirmation that it worked (or not!) really helps. Ta
