Looking for advice people!

The evaporator on my W203 requires to be replaced and the part numbers i have are:-

Fitted:- A2038300258
Updated Part from EPC:- A2098300258

However do you think part number A2118300258 is the same part? The only difference seems to be the model prefix.

The next question has anyone ever changed one on a W203 and is it a case of replacing all the parts and then getting it charged?

There is no gas in it at all just now so could i be looking at other parts needing replaced as well?

EPC says A2118300258 fits W211 and W219, while A2098300258 fits W203 and W209, so I very much doubt they are the same.

I've got A2098300258 on the shelf and would be happy to do a forum special on it:)

You might want to change the reciever dryer too.

Evaporator swaps aren't much fun though.

I know it's a dash out job and i'm dreading it but there is no way i'm going to stick it in a garage to do. Just wouldn't be worth it.

Its the process of putting it back together, is it as simple as bolting it all back and taking it to get vac'ed and filled etc?

Yep, box it back up and get it filled.

They come apart a bit easier than the earlier cars , so it's not the worst job on earth.

Is it ok if i PM you re a couple of items you have on yoru site?

Do you know for sure that the evap is leaking?
Do the fittings stick through the bulkhead or inside.
I would pressure test and leak check it first.
All the leak finding techniques have been said, but I'd want to be certain.

Sorry to hijack thread an all but ok if I pm you too Nick?
