So i have brought a facelift W203 which i love every part of with the exception of the cupholder compartment, it only takes a can.

Could anyone point me in the right direction of the snazy pop up cup holder that fits in there please ?

I have done some searching and it's seems there are many variants. My compartment has the coin slots on the drivers right inside the compartment itself.

I have found the one i believe it to be on eBay but it's £95 which is a bit extream to hold a paper cup and i'm not confident it's the right one. I have also asked Merc Chelmsford for one but apparently they have stopped making them.

I think i may have to remove the coin thing for the cupholder to fit ?? Anyone come across this before ??

Hi guys i solved this problem by buying a slim travel cup that fits in the hole :)

I done some heavy mooching online last night and it looks like there may well be two options for the pop up cup holder both of which seem to involve taking the trim around the gear selector off which i not very keen on doing because once you start things like that there will forever be an annoying noise somewhere in the car.

You do realise that it is illegal to eat or drink while operating a motor vehicle on a public highway don't you ? its called driving without due care and attention, and in the case of an accident if proven you WILL go to prison.

We all know that , but we pretty much all do it , encouraged by the cup holders the manufactures fit in our cars. I am currently working in the USA and my rental car has more cup holders (BIG ONES) than it has wheels !

But we all stop our cars and apply the handbrake before taking a sip of our 'tasty beverage' don't we ?

Most certainly ! i never take a single sip without pulling over putting the car in park applying the hand brake and only movinf off when my thirst is quenched. :thumb:

At my age I have to stop for a coffee frequently! So although I have swapped my w211 which had no cup holders for an ML with 2 I have never ever used them! My wife prefers to stop at roadside pubs and cafes where she invariably manages to find something to buy! Once stopped at 06.30 in France , went into a
' Routiers' for a quick coffee and croissant and came out with a bill for € 89 having had the coffee etc but also acquired a framed picture which was on the wall. Tried to get out of buying it but said if it would fit in the back of our Toyota Landcruiser she could have it. Unfortunately she managed to shoehorn it in between the top of the contents of a completely packed fully loaded rear compartment and the roof !

Merc stopped fitting the pop up cup holders because the are known to break easily and a bugger to replace.

I found it ! This is the one that fits my car not the ugly one the requires removal of the roller shutter Part No. A2036800879

This fits W203's where the coin holder bit on the right and veritcal in the hole.

This has taken ages to find one because the German sites didnt have the Part # on there which is what i was using to search.

All done and you don't have to remove all the trim it takes 2 minutes to install.

In true sods law the follwoing morning i was looking forward to getting a coffee the Mc Donalds i pass only to find out they are refurbishing it :wallbash:

How did you installed that? How did you removed the coin holder on the right?

:thumb:Good Morning Sorry I was away the weekend.

There are two types depending on which type of coin holder is in your car.

If you have the coin holder pointing vertical like mine ( facelift ) was then it's just a simple case of pull it out as it only slots/clips in.

If you are pre-facelift and have the coin holder and cigarette lighter horizontal in the hole then I think you may have to remove some trim.
