Hello

My W203 is due an MOT and it was mentioned to me that the fromt arms were split (either upper or lower but not both).

I think that this is an MOT fail - is this correct?

Apparently it is quite hard to see but maybe seen by the eagle eyed tester.

Any comments please?

Thank you.

No problems with MOT, front arms not split.
No failure! All OK from the most rogorous MOT I have ever seen completed.

Turn the wheel to full lock then look in behind the wheel and you will see a chunky alloy arm its the bushs that split in these, they will still pass an mot unless they are really bad.
Worth getting them replaced as the geometry goes out and you get funny tyre wear.
Pics is of wifes arms that i changed just passed an mot but advisory noted.

Just had mine done along with new springs, as one had cracked, and what a difference to the feel and drivng experience. Wouldn't wait until after Christmas depending on where you a going to get the work done. PM me for further info.

Hi, i have just bought a C270 CDI, 2003, 91k, and the steering feels quite stiff. It is also pulling slightly to the left, and on the MOT, 3 days ago it had 2 advisroies for "both suspension arm bushes worn, but no excessive movement" Is this the same probem you have highlighted with your photo`s?and could this be the cause of the stiff steering? The tyres appear evenly worn so i am a bit confused.

Pete wifes car has always had stiff steering whereas my 210 model is much lighter, but mine has parametric steering and wifes 203 doesnt so may be a querk of the car?

Try a google for the susp bushs it comes up quite frequently on the 203.
