Ok so i realised i had a fault here as the solenoid was unlocking and not locking, i would reset it manually and unlock but will not relock , purchased another 2nd hand one and is the same , what do you recons up perhaps i need to get a multimeter to check if there is power when i press lock , weird :dk:

urgent suggestions please

Yes,that's the only way forward, doubt if you have another duff solenoid.Chances are they are both good.

I assume it needs a reverse polarity to lock, could be wrong if it has a mechanism that alternates from lock to unlock with a common signal, sorry can't be of more help.

Just took the old one apart to have a look , and its just a little motor on a screw so it will no doubt need reverse polarity, are there any auto electricians on here ?
