It seems the top catch on our glove box has come loose and now the door won't stay closed.

Went to MB Watford Dealership today to see if they can supply the missing ?screw/rivet. The parts diagram somehow doesn't show anything of the sort here and the parts chap was none the wiser....

Could someone please advise on this or check theirs and perhaps post a photo of the missing bit? How is the catch kept in position?

See my photos of the catch...

Thanks in advance....

its a small self tapper... I cannot see t clearly on the parts diagram wither but id go for N000000003242 or N000000000888. Get one of each im sure it will be one of them.

Went back to MB dealership today. Of course, they don't stock anything and need to order the screw!

They don't think either N000000003242 or N00000000888 are the right part numbers (but can't tell me the correct one either) so suggest I ask around again before ordering....can someone PLEASE look at their glove box catch and send me a photo of the screw that holds the catch in place PLEASE.

Cheers

I think it was a star screw of some description. Internal part of my glovebox snapped an just replaced it. If I get back to my car 2nite best I can get is a pic of screw in position. Dont have many tools so cant remove it :/

Glove box I now have doesnt have screws :/ it also goes lower than it should do which is strange. Must be from a diffeeent model :/

your first photo shows the black metal catch thats come loose in my car....what is holding that catch in place? could you photograph its underside from inside your glove box PLEASE?

Just been to check mine with the intention of removing the screw to post a pic, but the CD changer is in the way.

Don't know if this will help you, but I'm inclined to agree with Jay.

I think Jay's suggestion will work.
