W203 Hand brake release

Hi all,
having problems releasing the hand brake on my 01 reg W203 CDi. I have to pull and release the brake several times before it will switch off the warning light and release. Is there an easy resolve for this? Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Richard,

I had the same problem on my 220 CDI Sports Coupe & it drove me nuts.

I managed to solve it easily by lifting the back seat, then removing a small cover plate which allowed access to the cable pivot thingy, a quick spray with WD40 & a few applications of the brake & subsequent release of the lever sorted it in just a few minutes
