Hi all

Can someone confirm if my seats have the module and fittings for heated seats?

Do you have the switches in the centre console?

The heater elements were sewn into the seat coverings, so if the car wasn't spec'd for heated seats it won't have any redundant parts

Sadly no.

Was hoping I could retrofit them as it is a well spec'd 270cdi **********e.

If not will either get some horrible covers over the leather or may look for a set of front seats.

Seen a few out of the AMG cars which look nice..

Thanks

I believe that with fabric seats it is possible to take the seat apart and insert the heating pads and wiring under the seat cushion, but leather seat are one unit and will require surgical operation. I think that Richard and Alfie actually did this (retrofit heated seats) some years ago though not sure if it was on a W203.

But as said, there will be no redundant parts, so the upgrade will require a new centre console (apparently the switches cant be retrofitted into an existing console), new wiring under the dash and floor mats, and heated pads.

Easier to fit aftermarket kits as I had done to the rear seats of my 203

This can be done. I did my A150 and a few others. Doesnt matter if you have cloth or leather.

You will need the seat pads. 2 per seat, wiring from pads to seat plug, loom, from fuse box to seat base and switch panel. New switch panel.

All the parts are available and the job is easy enough, just time consuming.

Can one purchase the heater pads separately for the 203 seats, I was advised these were incorporated into the actual seat covers (leather or fabric)?

Or can one use pads from another model?

Pads from another model fit and work well ;-)

For the W203 EPC doesnt show any separate pads. They are shown for other models though.

It is odd because EPC for the W203 shows the loom(s) and control panel for heated seats but not the pads. For the W169 it shows the pads and control panel but no loom!

One thing I have just found is that the C55 could have multi contour (orthopaedic) seats. Now, that wasnt in the options brochure at build time but the parts are clearly listed. If I had known that then there would have been a retrofit when I had my C55!

Yes, I noted the Multi-contour seat option in EPC and as you say that was never shown in the (UK) option brochure!

Would have been a great retro-fit (even on the 270?)

Mate, ive got a aftermarket kit knocking about in the shed you are welcome to have

Very kind offer Brett - I'm thinking buying a set of c36 or c55 front seats with heated options and install them as this is a car I'd like to keep for as long as possible.

Until then, some basic heated seats will have to do.

I've just retrofitted heated and electric c43 seats to my 202 with minimal fuss. I'd try and find a c32 that's being broken that you can remove everything from and put in one go. There was a set for sale in Croydon a little while back that everything was there that were not up for a lot of money
