Hello everyone
Yesterday I took my W203 2001 C200 CDI to service because of diesel smell in the cabin and the leak was in the pipelines. Anyways the mechanics had noticed while finding the leak that my turbo is leaking and that has also caused the inlet manifold to go bad!
I didn't have too much time to talk about why the inlet manifold should be changed aswell but the turbo is now leaking oil to the inlet manifold and it is going bad aswell. The manifold is plastic one, wtf Mercedes?
I quickly asked for quote and the owner of the garage said the OEM turbo is €1500 / £1255 and the manifold is €450 / £375 so im facing a bill over €2000 with the labor and everything. He's going to check better prices and inform me later.
The mechanics also hooked it to Star and the turbo+manifold didn't give any codes but I have broken stepper motor in the footwell and broken water recirculation pump aswell
Is this just robbery or do they really need to change the manifold too? And the turbo can not be serviced seperately? My car is working normally and is not smoking or restricted to limp mode either. I am seriously thinking about getting rid of this car if the final quote is so big.
I appreciate if anyone can give some better diagnosis about the manifold problem and any tips how to get this fixed for cheaper
