Hello all, abit of help please.

I was indicating to turn right at a junction today with no fault. I turned right and as I went to turn the steering wheel back to straighten the car the ******g steering wheel wouldn't turn!

A slight panic as I'm now heading into traffic on the other side of the road. So I gave the steering wheel a sharp twist and job done, I'm in control of the car again. there was no noise from the car...

But now the auto switch off for the indicators doesn't work...

So, it looks like whatever turns the indicators off in the steering column has snagged/broke off after causing the steering wheel to stick.

So, what part has broke and is it a DIY job to replace the part?

Air bag, steering wheel, column housing, contact Surat with steering angle señor all need to be removed & refitted.
May have to go on diag afterwards if SRS warning light needs to be cleared.
Unless you are confident & have a good tool selection leave it to a garage.
No more than an hours labour

My indicator stork unit failed on my W203, common fault apparently on this model. Fitted a new one myself using Haynes manual as guide. Quite a simple job if you take your time and have the right tools. Important to disconnect negative on battery before you do anything (stops airbag going off!!).

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll look into the DIY stuff.
