I have a C180 Kompressor Sport Edition.
When I got it, the previous owner said that there was an intermittant electrical fault, where the sound system would loose power for a couple of seconds and then come back on. No big deal, but it is getting worse.
It now looses power every now and again for up to 30 seconds, this also affects certain other systems in the car, so it is not just the music system connection.
I also get dashboard warnings about ESP unavailable, ABS not functioning and the Auto lights don't work. Although the lights still work on manual.
So I am guessing that the fault is on whatever circuit covers the music system and the sensor grid???

Obviously when I took it into Mercedes it wouldn't do it and they couldn't find any faults!!!

Anyone got any ideas??

Deteriorating earthing strap/connection?
Sounds like a loose/detaching or rubbing wire (rubbed through wire insulation on a panel) or similar. Had any codes read?

Might be separate faults?
Which audio unit is it? Audio 10 can have internal faults that might cause it to cut out.

Mercedes have now solved the problem as they managed to duplicate it when I took the car back yesterday, as the problem was getting rapidly worse!!!

Turns out "grober" was correct!! Low power output from the alternator was the problem!

Thanks everyone for your replies.
