W203 m271 knocking noise from engine when cold

Hi guys happy new year too all! Hope you could help me with a strange problem, my car is a 2005 c200 kompressor with the m271 engine. My issue is when I drive the car when cold I get a bad knocking rotational noise but wouldn't say engine speed and only happens under load. Strange thing is the noise goes away after ten miles of driving! Also the car uses quite a lot of oil almost a litre a month with no leaks! Any advise would really be welcome thank u very much

Where are you located, anywhere near a Merc independent? Also, what is the mileage of the vehicle?

Additionally, has your vehicle ever had the timing chain/ tensioner replaced?

Does the rattling goes away when in higher revs?
Where is the sound coming from? Front of engine or behind?

Mine used about a litre of oil every 800-1000 miles with no leaks. The engine ran perfectly with 67000 miles and a full history. No smoke from the exhaust.
It had a noise from the front of the engine, louder when cold, which turned out to be the bearing on the alternator pulley.
