Hi,

Last week my father in law picked up a W203 c270 estate (avantgarde) the guy he bought it from said 'make sure you turn the heated seats and the memory seats off otherwise it can drain the battery'

Now I have managed to take a quick look, the heated seat button is next to the gearstick, which is a little rocker switch with 2 settings, I have told him it's been retrofitted with heated seats.

Now the other thing is the memory seat/electric seat, on the bottom right hand side of the driver seat it has a little switch with a light on it, to me it doesn't look standard, all the switch does is enable or disable the ability to use the panel on the drivers door. (memory seat and mirrors)

Any idea why this has been done, I doubt it's retrofitted memory seats.

Regards
Jared

I doubt memory seats have been retrofitted, but I suspect there's been a power drain in the last which has been traced to the seats, and the workaround is to isolate the seat from the power circuit, hence the rocker switches.

Agreed. The seat heater cant possibly drain the seat unless it is non-mercedes or the switch panel is damaged. the memory seat module is just faulty and has power drain.

Thanks for the prompt replies. At least it's good news and not to much hassle for him to just carry on with what he's doing.

Quick question, I find it strange that the car would have memory seats but not have heated leather? would this be easy to add to the module under the seat?

The memory seat/convenience option is available in the OSD, if yours is a retro fit I assume that option should be missing, would be interesting to know if present or not.

I retrofitted memory seats to my W203. It was an experience.

so presumably then the convenience option was missing from the OBC, unless you had it programmed in.

On the W203 there are several things to code for memory seat. None of those are visible by default.

Ok so if I ask him to check the OSD for convenience option, I will be able to tell if it was a retrofit or not, I just thought it odd that a seat with leather and all the mechanisms for memory seating would not have heated panels as well.

I don't know what the dealers options were when new so no idea if that was a possibility of having memory leather without heated seating.

When you retrofitted memory seating did you add the heated seat option as well, or was that already in place?

The following options are known to exist
- memory
- leather
- multi-contour
- lumbar adjustment
- heated
- sports
- AMG
- Designo duo tone

My seats came from a C55 car via MBGTC and MBenzNL.

Mine were
- Memory
- heated
- AMG --- includes leather and alcantara
