A friend of mine has for sale a W203 with Command and all the options but he things he needs a new DPF. I want to buy it but obviously I need to sort it out

Now I have looked on EuroCarParts and they are about £150 (with discount this weekend). Is it a straightforward job to do? Is there anything else to be considered.

I have googled and I have seen some quotes for nearly £2000 to fix this? Am I missing something?

You need to get it checked out as a blocked DPF is usually caused by other faults not allowing it to regenerate correctly. You do not want to change the DPF to find you have the same problem a few hundred miles down the road

Just remove the DPF the car will run much better, talk to Acid at MSL they seem to have a great reputation for the DPF delete

For the same money and fuel economy what do you reckon is best:

Audi A3 2.0 TDI or the W203

Both with full gadgets (command etc). Audi has the F Sport Package

The merc will drive better. But the audi is probably a better car :fail
As for the dpf if it does get replaced and not deleted buy a genuine one.

I had a dpf from ECP after paying out for re-gens etc. guy round the corner fitted it along with rear brakes for £170 though he said he had a little trouble getting it to fit. all good now.
