I need to replace the corroded back plate on the rear brakes of a w203 coupe.
Having got the rear disc off, can you advise further to get the back plate off please.
I don' t think you can remove the back plate without removing the hub flange and hub bearing/half-shaft ?? This is a major operation best left to the pros. They don't normally fail structurally through corrosion although without fail they will have surface corrosion. If its a cosmetic problem you could try cleaning them up in situ.
As above, it looks simple, but it is a major strip down. Full assemblie need removing from car & hub flange knocking / pressing out and pressing back in.
You'll need anew wheel bearing whilst you are at it.
