Hello everybody your help and knowledge will be verry much appreciated i this one.
I just bought a year old c W203 180 sport edition with Sat-Nav and phone installed, full drive electric seat with memory pack , but to my astonishment NO FOLDING mirrors.
Is any body there who knows the part No of the mirrors frame to order for it.
I phoned some of my local MB dealers, but they are useless.

Please advise:)

I don't know the part numbers but i would look out for them on ebay, they will be second hand but loads cheaper than new, good luck with your new car.:bannana:

Yep... cheeky MB cost cutting on the Sport Edition. You'll also find you don't have the upgraded brakes they put on Avantgardes with the Sports Pack option.

Thank for you quick reply friend,
Yes , Ebay was my first search, But are they all the same fitting and wiring for the year 2001 to 2006?

The mirror frames are circa £250 each. Then there is the switch panel at circa £165. We can supply part numbers if you like;)

You would also need some coding. Circa £100/hour unless you know a nice friendly person with a Star machine;)

Thank Alfie, I already have the a new switch unit, please let me have the part no for the frames

Since there are already memory seats then it will be an easy job.

Keep in mind that there are two models of mirror. One with attached wiring and one with extension cable.

There are also two types of bolt. One is T20 secure and the other one is a 5 way spline.

The left side memory mirror makes a perfect companion to someone who would like to acquire "parking aid" where the glass dips down on reverse. That may help reduce the cost of the install. However that usually requires a door module in lower option cars.

Thanks R2D2 for the clarification, I don't want to give false hope!!

Begs the question, why have a memory door module in a car without memory seats? Perhaps the modules are common?

I am asking the question, not questioning your response.. :)

I wrote a long reply but my broadband crapped out at the posting stage.

There are two kinds of door module. BASIC and FULL OPTION. The full option type is always associated with folding or dimming or memory and any combination of.

Autofolding needs 2005+ FULL OPTION door controllers and a 2005+ (not older) FRONT SAM (fuse box).

Mirror dipping in "parking aid" mode can work with older door controllers having FULL OPTION and correct mirror in AUTOMATIC cars.

With those key items it works with any car from first W203 such as mine even without visible cluster settings.

It does however need advanced coding which is not offered at the dealers to achieve retrofit in all cars. PARKING AID is not complicated with the hardware in place. But it needs expert coding to work.

Worst case list
---------------------
Door controller (if no other options in mirror)
Memory capable frame passenger side
Coding session

Operation
--------------------
Adjust when in reverse
Keep passenger mirror selected on mirror adjustment panel
Can not be learned or stored without memory seats.

I was the crash-test dummy for this innovation. I went through about 4 door controllers and 3 SAM units to figure out all of the variants. My surprise came when the left side was in parking aid mode and auto-folding, the right side was static.

Yesterday we performed a Comand install on a very very early W203 facelift. It was manufactured in april 2005 but is still a 2005 model.

We managed to code the car to autofold the mirrors. The car was an automatic but did not have memory seating hence we couldnt code the auto dipping NS mirror.

06/2004 is when the first 2005 spec car rolled out. Anything in early 2005 was the second batch.

The early 2004 models had a black box in the drivers side underdash panel as a physical CENTRAL GATEWAY. In the later models the ignition switch was made with CGW built into it.

The one we did yesterday was apparently registered in April 2004! So it must have been one of the very first if not the very first car!

I'll get the VIN and check it.

The original type of tool for this was from the USA.

The tool you need can be ordered from Hazet. It is also sold be Mercedes as a tool part. You must have WIS (workshop online) to get the part number of the tool.

If you take the car to a dealer it can be done in 30 minutes.

Yeah it looks like a pre-delivery sample. One of the first for sure. Surprising that auto-folding works. It has been very unlikely in other models where I did the same thing. I can wonder if the front SAM has been upgraded.
