Hi All
For those who are regular followers of this forum site, you may remember a couple of months ago, I posted on the site, my near thing with the rear suspension arms being rusted through and collapsing(see photo). The garage which I use instead of main dealers fitted rear suspension arms ( Mercedes parts ), I have used this garage for the past 2 years and the owner has always done a very good job and is very reasonable for price, however more importantly, is one of the most honest mechanics I have ever dealt with. Since the new arms have been fitted I am getting an annoying and very loud creaking/squeaking noise when I go over any slight imperfections on road surface and is very evident when going over speed bumps. The car has been back to the garage twice and the mechanic has checked every thing and cannot locate where the noise is coming from. He has assured me the car is safe to drive and to be fair it passed the MOT last week with no issues. The garage has told me to bring it in again next week and he will strip down new new suspension arm and refit to see if this removes noise fault. The noise is only coming from the near side, this is the side that collapsed. The mechanic has sprayed all pivot points and bushes with silicon grease however noise still persists. The car has always been a very quiet running car and on fast smooth roads there is no noise. I have been under the car and all looks fine, no broken springs or anything that appears to be loose The car will be going in again next week and I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience in this type of problem and could give the mechanic any ideas where to look to eradicate this noise. Any and all help would be much appreciated as the mechanic has hit a brick wall with the problem and the noise is driving me nuts. I have attached a couple of photos ( before and after repair) and also a short video clip on the noise when bouncing on the back end (noise much louder when driving, a real head turner, for all the wrong reasons.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6LiNSlD-sU
The car has only done 48k miles and I've had it since brand new.
