Hi! all. The continuing saga of the tiptronic gear selector problem. It started when I had nothing showing on the display to show what gear I was in. I could put the car into drive, but nothing showing on the display, and it would only stay in one gear. Also when I stopped, I couldn't put it into Park to take the key out. I would have to put it into neutral first, then turn the ignition off and back on again. It would then let me put it into Park to take the key out.
I spoke to Mercedes, they said £480 for a new gear selector. I then spoke to an independent Mercedes agent who said that they were all matched to the Engine Management System, so I couldn't buy a second hand one as it wouldn't work.
Well today I replaced it with one from Ebay (£60 all in) and it works fine.
So don't believe everything people tell you!
