Does anyone know where the motor/servo is that opens and closes the vent on the nearside footwell. An examiner test found mine was stuck open and I want to get it out and take a look.
Also how much is a new one?

Sorry to drag up this old thread. Was the problem with this vent/servo causing an irritating knocking type noise as it tries to open? I think this is the problem I have. Seems to persist for a minute or two after start...very annoying!

I've read that dealers can charge over a grand for this cos most of the dash needs to come out.

It normally the stepper motor for the recir flap complete dash and heater box out split heater box open renew recir flap and gearing parts less than £100 about 12 to 16 hours book time!

must point out that footwell flaps are more common on the older cars, hopefully most of those recirc flaps were done years ago! the footwell flap servos are far far easier to do, and can be as little as 2 hrs when you know how...
