W203 washer/wipers not working

Hi Guys

Very long time since I have been on. References on this forum have led me in to a detailing craze, and subsequently a watch and fountain pen obsession!

My wiper stalk on my 2003 C Class has always been a bit dodgy on high beam, sometimes unclicking itself of refusing to engage high beam so I knew something was dodgy.

This morning the washer/wipers totally packed in, I checked the fuse which is fine and the motor is OK as I managed to get the wipers to work for a second whilst I fiddled with the stalk so it is obviously a loose connection.

Parts are £80 from Inchcape, much less on eBay but I wondered how easy these were to fit. Particularly concerned about the airbag of course.

I am fairly competent, stripped the dash to fit a car kit, fitted brake pads etc.

Any ideas, hints or tips most welcome.

Just an update seeing as no one can assist, Olly very kindly offered to coach me over the phone and gave me his mobile number, what a gentleman!

As it turned out I had the mobile number of a Mobilolife techie and he was local so popped around and fitted it whilst I called Mobilolife to book in the job. Took an hour as its fiddly and we were chatting a bit!

The reason for the failure was that the wires are not shielded meaning the sharp edge at the base of the stalk repetedly hits the wires and had cut clean through one with the others already showing signs of fracture, very naughty but it could have cost me more than £80 had I paid for labour at a stealership.

Luckily if your wipers have failed its classed as a breakdown!
