W203 wheels and calipers

I Have w203 2005 avantgarde i try 4sets of wheels
Never fit on the front my calliper to big
What size i need to fit them propely?

probably 17" or larger

I have now 17 I try 18 and still touching
Caliper what about ET and all this details
I don't know much about wheels
Someone told me I need 15mm spacers
Because 12mm I try and not enought
Only I don't think spacers r safe ???

Wheel diameter size doesn't make much difference, it's the off-set that matters.
