C270 CDI W203
Hi all, this is my first post here but I've been going over threads for a little while :D Apologies if I've missed the welcome section if there is one.

I've actually signed up to see if I can find out what is wrong with my mums car, I drive a 97 323F/Lantis myself although have been considering a W202 later in the year.

So... issue is, at idle, either with engine warm or cool, the revs seem to keep bouncing between 500-1000rpm and won't stop. But put your foot down and it still pulls nice and strong. Sometimes it idles fine, but 8-9 times out of 10, it'll sit there bouncing up and down.

Have been told by our normal garage that it is something to do with 'a turbo solenoid' and would need to have the turbo changed at a cost of something like £1500  We simply cannot afford it, and considering the car drives perfectly I can't see how that can be justified (feel free to point out why it can if it can, I don't know much about this engine yet).

If it makes a difference, quite a while back the top cat broke up and blocked the exhaust (before any of this rough idle problem) and resulted in a complete loss of power. Both cats were removed from the exhaust and all has been well since (even went through the MOT fine like this).

Sorry for the long post, appreciate any help with this. Even if we had the cash for a new turbo, it still seems a lot for what currently seems like a small problem?

Thanks,
Nick :)
