Hi All

I had my air con charged just over one month ago, today went to use the air con and it was not working very well so I must have a small leak can anyone recommend or has anyone used one of the can from halfords that stop leaks. there is one that only does leaks not recharges so I would have to recharge again. Or is the a known problem with AC. Thanks Paul

Is your pollen filter blocked?

No its not the filter I get air coming into the cabin. when I put one of the gauges you get from Halfords it did show that gas has go over 1.5 months

Most common point of leaks is at the condenser...

Only way to know for sure is too gas it up and have them use leak dye as well...

around 35 - 45 £ and if done by a reliable mechanic, probably the best way to ensure your AC has been charged correctly...

As above, worth making sure your filters are clean :-)

I had the condenser go on my old C Class cant remember the cost, but if its taking over a month to leak out is it worth putting one of the stop leak cans into it. Halfords have one that only stops the leaks does not re charge the system so I'm thinking it may well be worth having a go. the car is just out of warranty 3 years old would the condenser go already .

The condensor can go at 3 years , the crud builds up and just corrodes through it.

Better to get it fixed properly rather than trying to bodge it. The cans never work properly.

Any one know what the cost may be I know its going to make me cry.

About £400 ish ?

try euro merc etc.... could get a bargain!

hope you get sorted as painlessly as possible!

Cannot help with your problem, but I set the temp I want and leave the air-con on all the time summer and winter with climate control set to auto. The compressor runs as and when it is required and in 15 years of various cars with climate control, i've never had a problem. It also helps lessen the windows misting up inside.

^ what that man said!
leaving it on auto guarantees longest life! (bizarre but true)
