W204 Audio upgrade question (COMAND)

Hi All,

I'm sure I'll get flamed here for asking what I'm sure is a common question, but I've had a search and nothing jumping out at me.......:fail

Just about to pick up my 11 reg 350 CDI Sport which has the COMAND system but not Harman Kardon. I like to have music at a decent level when I'm on my own and my old 330D BMW's stock stereo was an embarrassment to an otherwise great car. So, to my question...

- What are the best audio upgrades for various budgets to my system. Are their quick and easy speaker upgrades that dont require ripped apart the doors (at least too much). I think I saw something about Infiniti Kappa's being a good choice?

- If I go another level and install a sub. Nothing insane, just to give the base fair representation like an 8" or pos a 10", are there any that jump out as good quality, value and relatively easy to install

- Any stories of members that have done similar things? what did you get an how much did you spend? I could potentially go to £1k but if I can get a good result for not much that would be ideal.

Anyways, as this is my first post. I'm a family man, used to be a 350Z owner and contributor on that forum so hopefully you're all as friendly a community as they were. Sure my wife will hate me buying a car that I love again.... and me being fixed to this forum.:bannana:

Theres lots of stuff we have done to different W204

Ranging from just installing the HK tweeters to improve treble, to installing small amps and new front speakers, or even HK with HK speakers and even nicer, HK amp with Morel speakers instead and a decent 8" subwoofer (to balance the 6.5" door speakers).

The doors need a reasonable amount of work to install speakers - they are fitted in very very strange ways - particularly the rears ...

You can change just the tweeters to HK ones very simply yourself, the rest requires disassembly
