W204 c250 not starting

Hi all

I'm having a problem with my c250d.

Here's what happens;

Key goes in ignition, the steering lock disengages, I can put the car into drive etc etc.

when the key is turned to position 2, the ignition comes on, everything works fine.

key turned to start position, there is just a click from the engine bay. sounds like the starter relay. but the car doesnt turn over.

can anyone advise please?

Petrol or diesel?

Sounds very much like starter motor has gone, check our mercmantips on you tube he did a video on how to proeprly diagnose it.

Check the main battery is good. Check starter motor connections. If it clicks fast repeatedly I'd suspect battery. Otherwise solenoid connections or starter connections.

I'm pretty sure mine won't start if in Drive, put it into Neutral or Park to start
