Did anyone ever get to the bottom of the "mystery" of the 0-60 figures.

I heard some sources saying 0-60 in 6.9 (like the W203) and other sources saying 7.7 secs.
 
From the German MB site it looks like 7.7 is for the manual tranny (where available) and 6.9 is for the automatic transmission. This is because they have to limit the torque in case of the manual transmission (could be for lower gears only with current car models).
 
thats how i understood it.

however 0-62 times isn't really a good indication for the 320 cdi engines performace, in fact standing starts (like you would ever cane it like a boyracer from standstill anyway..) feels pretty dissappointing
the real strength is in gear accelleration from 3rd gear and up where it really pulls, and if you wanted something faster (for real life driving, motorways etc) you would need (want) something with a silly big engine to get a noticable performance increase
