Hello all, I'm having a few issues with the 7g tronic gearbox on my w204 c63, its feeling pretty rough when shifting in comfort (a bit lumpy), the clutch isn't slipping and there's no loss of power when on a hill etc. I have tried the adaption reset and it seems to have made it worse, i have rang Mercedes and they are wanting £192 just to diagnose the issue, any advice? thankyou.

What mileage is it , and when was the last gearbox ATF change buddy ? You could do with a Mercedes Indy rather than MB

Just over 59k, gearbox was serviced at 41k at mercedes, going to have to try get it to an indy to diagnose, struggling to find one near me though 😑

MSL is only 2 hours from you, you could do a lot worse than having Acid take a look.

Yeah might be worth a shot, just having the time to go haha

Those adaptations reset methods floating online doesnt work, all placebo effect. Proven on STAR.
Try disconnect negative battery terminal overnight. at least for 8-12 hrs.
Then reconnect and allow TCU to relearn your driving characteristics.

I agree it this is referring to holding one’s foot down on the accelerator with the ignition on but without the engine running. It doesn’t reset anything, all it does is fool the ECU into thinking that you’re driving really hard and the car sharpens it’s reactions accordingly and after driving “normally” for a while just settles down again.

You can achieve the same by just driving with one’s foot pinned to the floor for 10 seconds, although that may not be possible (safely and legally) with very fast cars as 10 seconds will be long enough to get you into illegal speeds even from rest, and so repeated shorter runs (eg 7 seconds) would achieve the same result. Unfortunately it won’t help the OP’a problem though.

OP, have a read through the "specialists" thread further down the board in the Community section.

Almost certainly a couple or more recommended in your part of the world.

My only thought is if Mercedes did a ATF change on that box a short while ago, then maybe it is bite the bullet and take it back there, because at your mileage your box should be trouble free.

One other thought if you do have a fault with the electro plate then you have one of the best repairers up your way.
