W204 C63 Fire Opal Red Project thread.

Thanks Andy. Agree, it was really the oil that raised my eyebrows as I've not had a car that runs so hot on the oil before. I don't (and don't plan to) track the car, but as I sit in Birmingham traffic daily, it would be good to get those temps down a little, once rolling again. No idea about the gearbox's temps (is there a way to "see" them??), but I've never had it drop out of "M" while hooning.

Dave is going to contact the carbon place and ask about a panel for me, so I should get one fitted in due course ;) Thanks!
You cannot see the transmission temps , and I have only had it come out of manual when on track TBH.

I am going to have my geo redone and the setup verified as I am a little unhappy about how its performing.

I am finding that the car is shuddering ( can feel it moving left and right ) on the road and its ever so slightly left hand down when in a straight line. This could be the road camber, but I am going to ensure its not with a full alignment + weighting.

I have also noticed that at times the **** end feels disconnected to the front end. I have softened the adjustables to 14 clicks ( from soft ) on the front and rear and it feels about 1 million times better.

Car is booked in for a service a week today which is oil, filter , air cabin filters and plugs. Its not an wholly unreasonable amount even from a MB dealer. Its a lot more convenient for me to get it services at MB Manchester who as an added bonus I find are impeccable in their services both on the car and to me, as a person

So on Friday So I had been over to see @blocky at Overboost.

What a fantastic setup he has!

I explained to Andy that I wasnt happy with the way the car felt and we started by establishing the ratio between the front and rear heights on the standard car and applied the same ratio to the car whilst lowering.

In the end we used the **** end as a base height and raised the front end 15mm. That sounds a lot, but the reality is its not. We couldnt lower the rear end as I have a slight rub now as I am on the et50 from et36 standards with the ultraleggera. We have however ( well , Blocky, not me ! ) made a mod that has drastically reduced the rub unless a HUGE compression takes place.

It also been for an alignment on a fantastic bit of kit - a hunter hawkeye and the chap pointed out a few things that he would change. I asked does it have the alignment specs for a black series c63. Reason being is they have KW V3 and almost identical drops as me so it would be rude not to use their geo,

The car now feels superb.

Had an o2 sensor fail throwing a cel on the dash.

Found a replacement part that is OEM but not from Merc for £58.

Took it to RSTuning who swapped it out , and cleared the fault.

Also had a slight map tweak. I have a bit more aggression in the crackles when about 3500RPM.

Drove the car back from Leeds to Doncaster and fell in love again. The car was so , so smooth.

I think youtube is uploading/converting the video as we speak - hence low resolution.

Sounds alright I guess...

The black series has a 69mm wider track on rear if I remember correctly so interesting to see that the alignment works the same for a non black series. I had mine set to "original when I changed suspension. However, I know one member took his to a track specialist and had it set up "old School" by a ex Lotus engineer and he swore the difference was night and day

Interesting on the wider track - I didnt know that.
ET
I am running different ET wheels than standard. ET54 to ET42 making 12mm per side difference. Wonder if that will help?!
