A spring has broken on one of the corners, can't determine which one yet.

I'm shopping around ready for when I can lift car up next week to find out which one.

Question is, which lengths F & R am I looking for.

W204 C220 cdi, with codes 486 sports suspension & 950 AMG sports package.

F range from 405mm to 362mm

R range from 330mm to 284mm

I'm assuming it's in the lower length range I should be looking, but will 10mm-ish make any difference or do I need to be specific.

Happy with current height not looking to go higher or lower.

Cheers all.

There will be coloured bands on your spring to tell which 1 it is

Get a quote from MB Grangemouth and save yourself a load of time and hassle. They will get you the correct spring. given them your forum user name.

Thanks all, I'll get in touch with mb and give then VIN and see what they say.

While cross referencing by Vin Number is ok in theory, its still influenced by the equipment fitted to each individual car. Putting it another way the Vin will give you the means to work out which springs you need via the points/options-fitted system--- the existing spring colour code saves you working it out and making a mistake in the process?

The MB part numbers for your springs should be listed at the bottom of the Datacard.

MB Edinburgh have said they need colour code, but they can work it out from VIN.

I suggest that you give them the colour codes.
I had a broken front spring on my previous S211 and the main dealer was insisting on ordering the wrong spring until I showed him a photo of the colour codes from the broken spring.

The colour code is quite visible on the spring (you will need to take the wheel off). It might by covered in mud / grime.

Well I've ordered a pair of Monroes already. I tried quite a few factors web-sites & entered VIN, and they all came back with the same colour code.

Even have live chat screen-shot of the one I bought telling me, so if they're wrong, they'll be having then back. I'll not be able to check for a few days so I wanted a pair ready.

If we are talking rear spring be aware that the rubber pad it sits in (lower) are also of different thicknesses on some models. Certainly on the 203, not sure about 204.
