W204 Coupe - Passenger folding mirror cracking when closing.

Hi

My wife has a 2014 W204 coupe and we’ve noticed that when locking the doors the passenger mirror makes a cracking noise when folding in.
This only happens when they fold inand not when they fold out. Any ideas as to why the issue might be and how to resolve?

It is also worth checking the hinge pins have not worked loose too.

Ha. Lube arrived and went to apply yesterday but the cracking noise has gone!!
Will keep lube if the cracking comes back and for other special jobs......

No harm applying it anyway, changes in the atmosphere as we head into winter, like more moisture in the air etc could be temporarily fooling you into it fixing itself, but in my experience, cars never fix themselves (unless you're a fan of the Stephen King novel, Christine LOL)
