Hi all, I know the W204 ESL failure has been discussed a lot, but one question I can't find an answer to is the MOT test.
I have an emulator fitted now, which works great, but has anyone had experience of putting their car through the MOT with just the emulator alone? Anyone been given advisories for the lock not engaging?
My MOT is due in March so wondering if I should try to reinstate the original lock unit.

HOw did you get on with the MOT? Just had emulator fitted to my car now and wondering the same thing. My MOT is booke dtomorrow

Hi John20, yes all passed - not a mention of the steering lock. Only needed an exhaust clamp to get through so all in £70 for ticket and repair.

I found out as well, some EV cars don't even have mechanical steering locks, Tesla's I think. Because there's another way to disable the car, a mechanical lock on the column is simply superfluous.

Thank you. Did your emulator have that "locking" soudn effect? mine does, I wonder if that will draw their attention.

Yes it does - it's a very soft sound, compared to the real lock. Again I didn't mention it and neither did the MOT guy.

Okay great, hopefully my MOT tester doens't either. But we'll see!

I can now say, good news! the MOT was passed without any mentions of the ELS / Emulator or lack of steering lock etc.

After your post #8 there was some spam offering "real girls" so I reported it as spam and it was removed, I then remarked "reported" so anyone else didn't need to report it too.
