Does you instrument cluster look like that:

So is mine.

I am intrigued as to which models have the second layout, which I often see on cars advertised for sale (in the UK).

Or is it just a menu config? STAR config? Etc.

Perhaps the lower photo is from a car that does not have Parking Assist? Although I would have thought that by 2013/2014 this was a standard feature on the W204 (the old passive Parking Assist, that is, not the newer active version). Unless Parking Assist was disabled on some cars? Hmm....

As an example, this is one of Jay's cars:

And it has the ECO symbol on the side:

Do you think the model spec of the car has anything to do with it? Mine is the amg sport + guise

When I bought my 2013 C180 Executive SE, the dealer had also a 2014 C180 Executive SE, my car has the ECO symbol at the bottom, the other car had the symbol on the side. So it's not the trim level as such.

As far as I could see, the other car was different to mine in that it had COMAND, Speed Sign Recognition, Reverse camera, and dual-sunroof. And it was one year younger than mine. Nothing else....

(I actually went to the dealer to see the 2014 car, which on paper had all the right spec, but when I checked the car, it was in poor nick, very tired ex-smoker interior, badly scratched COMAND screen, uneven bonnet shut-line gaps, etc, so I ended-up buying the older and lower-spec car that they had in stock and which was surprisingly in near-mint condition - had COMAND retrofitted and I am very happy with the car).

(And Jay's car above is a Sport AMG-Line)

Wow how bizarre, now that is something i want to know know, maybe years are something to do with it, who knows for definite

Will have a look at mine shortly

Hope you are recovering!

Its at the bottom on my CLS63.

Its got to be one of the following: ?
-Ether Park Assist or not (most likely?)
-Coupe or Saloon
-Model Year
-Petrol or Diesel

Of the above, I have managed to eliminate the last three.

I also suspect Park Assist, but as I said, if so then it is surprising that it wasn't standard on 2013/2014 W204 cars.

Possibly due to whether you have Attention Assist or not (that sits on the right when activated)

Deactivating Attention Assist does not change the location of the ECO symbol.

BTW, I am pretty sure that by 2013/2014 Attention Assist came as standard - it's a low-cost software-based safety feature and it would be difficult to justify it being a paid option, I think. Same as with the ESP/ABS-based TPMS that become a standard feature.

At the current the front runner is Park Assist....

Mine has park assist, it comes up in the middle bit that you can change to show navigational directions etc, mine is a 2013

Bottom - Park Assist is at the side - as is on the original photo. 2012, S204 C220Cdi AMG Sport BlueEfficiency Old Uncle Tom Cobbly

To provide an update....

My current thinking is that cars equipped with Traffic Sign Assist have the ECO symbol on the side, while cars that do not have this feature, will have it at the bottom.

As far as I know, during the last years of the W204, MB offered a pack that included COMAND Online, Traffic Sign Assist, and Reverse Camera in one bundle for the Saloon/Estate).

So if I am right, then W204 cars with CONAND/Traffic Sign/Reverse Cam, will have the ECO on the side.

Cars with Audio20 will have it at the bottom.

My car came with Audio20, and I had COMAND and Reverse Camera retrofitted, SCN coded and the datacard updated, but the ECO is still at the bottom. So it would seem that the deciding factor is the Traffic Sign Assist.

Can W204 facelift owners please check their cars and confirm? Thank you.
