Hi all.
HAPPY NEW YEAR...

Hope all is well.

Can I ask please...
My w204 CDI 220 ,2013 January,
It's automatic & a lovely car to drive.

My ask for help is...

I went onto a vin decoder website to see what the car came with from factory.
The information came back with this & that..also with a automatic gearbox number (or transmission number).

It is ....
722908 07 516421 [transmissionType = GA]

Could 1 of you folk please tell me my gearbox number...722.6 ... 722. X
I think but could be wrong ...722.9 .

Also.. could 1 of you folk tell me please...
I heard that to change the gearbox oil...to refill that you have to pump it in from the drain hole.. is that right.?

Thanks all for a nice little start to 25 ...lol.

Have good day.
Thanks

Morning..

About the above gear box..

Would you folk say this is the correct tool for refill.?
& I can connect that to (il call a water stop **** T ) & to my brake fluid pressure bleeder tool.

What atf oil would you folk say is the go to. Say the best at a mid range price.

Thanks again.

This is correct. It is drained by removing the sump, and via the drain plug on the torque converter.

It is filled via the drain hole.

Also, the transmission is officially known as the 7G-Tronic Plus transmission (or 7G+ for short). The 'Plus' is important when purchasing service parts as it differs from the previous 7G.

Sorry w1ghty..
I meant to put a photo or link...
Yeah this 1 ..

Thanks.
I have one of them as well , but I didn’t want cross contamination of brake fluid and ATF so I used the eBay pump which is great for diff oil as well .
You will need a gearbox sump connector as well

O yeah.. very good man.
So as long as fluid is going in, there don't need to be a lot pressure pumping it in.

Thanks markjay..
So mine is the 7G+. ?

So mine is the 7G+. ?
The cheap fluid pump provided enough ooomph to get the fluid up there , I’ve used this cheap set up 3 times with no issues .

Again sorry w1ghty..
Thought I'd put a link to something like that earlier, I just checked & no I didn't, sorry....

A bit of petrol swashed around a few times would clean it out yes... & again to be ready for next usage.?

Yeah yeah..seems decent pump with looks like plenty of hose.
Yeah probably go with w1ghty. Thanks.

Thanks

I don’t know about petrol , might damage rubber or plastic in the pump ??

Hi all.
How you's doing.

A bit of a while since I've been around on here. Never mind about the gearbox.
Ive just changed my rear pads.. my favourite job on a car. I could of left them another month or 2, but least there done.

Next is gearbox oil.
My dad as the 7226 auto box in his w211 220cdi 2007, & in his w210 300td.
He was saying he's not oil changed / serviced this 7229 unit.
& He was asking me how I'm going to flush the complete unit .. cooler .. torque.. & he asked ...do you have the round electrical plug thing, 16 wires or something like that.

If I talk to him in a day or 2, he'll probably have figured it out, but while it's still fresh in my mind, il see how you folk would go around the job.

Il put a photo / link on the plug that I mean in a few minutes.
Also.. the oil, dad should me the oil he used & never had problems with... Mb236.14 ..red. I see that for 7226 auto.

I seen on the internet that mb236.15 ..blue, is for 7229 auto.
But,....dad should me another can that he as mb236.14 / 15/ 16 ... Can't remember if it went 17..18. but what I mean mb specs. .

Any help on the flush & electric plug thing. & oil spec.

Thanks all. Have great weekend.

are you going to do the service ? if so have you got the service kit ? I bought the full kit including the conductor plate for my 722.6 but not got round to doing it, plus i'm trading it in on Monday. the car i'm getting has the 722.9 so its no good to me. will be selling the full kit soon.

Hi tiny gee
No not yet. I got the above pump & sump adaptor but I got to get the oil .. gasket, filter, was looking on auto doc ..€150 ISH (Ireland) think that's for meyle , complete, but not sure if there's a electrical plug. The oil in that package says mb236.14 but for 722908 auto box. I take it is red. But like I've seen.. colour means little but specs mean lot.

There's a few little things I want to do to my car to put it back into a nice motor, not just a driving motor. Can't wait to polish it ..auto glim were are you...

Have good weekend what ever it is your upto.

Hi all.
How's it keeping..nice day, like a summer day.
Saturday just,
Car up... removed under tray, removed sump, now the filter .. dad moved back grinning said just pull it down evenly. Yeah.. great laugh...not...but got to laugh. Didn't get covered from what oil was left behind / in filter, but nice splash on my face. Good job I wear glasses...lol..

The sludge in the sump, nice & thick. Cleaned all up including the box, back together.
Nice little job really.
My favourite job if I say there's 1 is the brakes (pads), not done discs on Merc ..yet, but on BMW yeah. So brakes be me, gearbox oil filter would be up there as well tho.
I'm going do it again in 3 weeks -ish so it give it a bit of a flush, €100 & so a go, cheaper & millions times easier than manual clutch & maybe few quid the difference.

Thanks folk for help with identifying &:with what / how you'd use.

Talk to you again soon.
Drive safe.

Thanks.
