Morning all.
My W204 has the xenon headlamps, yet I've noticed a second halogen bulb/lamp to the inside of each main projector unit and behind the C-shaped LED. No matter what I do, I cannot get this lamp to illuminate. Can anyone shed any light on the matter? (I apologise unreservedly for this pun).

Do you have see me home lights or lights that light up corners at night, maybe turn your lights on and turn the steering wheel,

The main projector unit turns to follow the steering. I tried that one last night.

Is it not also used for flashing (brief pull on the stalk towards you)?

My understanding is that HIDs don't turn-on fast enough to be able to flash quickly, and so Halogen bulbs are used for flashing.

Again, the main HID projector takes care of the flash and full beam. They must do something as there are bulbs fitted, but no joy yet.

....and with the light sensor covered, they are indeed the cornering lamps. Those bulbs are a bit "warm yellow"......need to sort that out. Thanks all.

I don't think you will find anything halogen to satisfy a colour match , I put some supposedly 5000K in there which I've had success with a match before , but they still look warm .

You've got a C63 style grill then ?

Osram NightBreaker etc are probably as bright white as it gets, for a Halogen bulb.

No they aren't MJ they're around 3700K , when they aim for whiter using more blue glass / quartz , it reduces the actual lumen output .

I've played around with expensive bulbs in the past so I know they won't match the HID perfectly, but the halogen/HID mismatch always annoys me.

The grille was on the car when I bought it, but to be fair, I would probably have changed it myself anyway.

Well at least you found out what they did,I called it right in a early post, not because I am clever, but I made a idiot of myself with a Citroen DS5 early last year, one bulb on front of the car not working so I took the nearside wheel off removed the plastic cover and managed to remove the bulb, there looked nothing wrong with it but I had a spare so changed it and then put everytbing back to find it still did not work,,so decided to leave it to the weekend, next day the car was parked differently with the nearside at a angle and that light worked the one on the other side did not,I then understood that they were the cornering lights :wallbash:

LED would be best but aren't road legal , I've seen a few things come along inc a H7r HID , r for reflector , still illegal .

But I've just spotted a E marked road legal H7 LED by a big Auto bulb specialist !!!

I remember when a friend of my father bought a new DS21 back in the sixties... it had lights that turned with the steering wheel. Pure magic, it was...
