W204 headlight adjustment - any help appreciated

I have a 2010 C180 K SE Blue Efficiency. My low beam headlights (H7 bulb) seem a bit too low and i was wondering how can I adjust the headlight to point slightly further up? I am assuming I will need to find out which screw is it? Has anyone got a tip which one it is and/or a picture that shows that? Many thanks

Have you checked that the bulb is correctly seated and the retainer clip is correctly installed? Reason I ask is that when I got my 204 in late March the dip lights were rubbish, too short and too far left. When I chenged the bulbs to Nightbreakers I found that one of the "pivot pins" on both near and offside retainer clips was not in its pivot hole, thus the bulbs were not correctly seated in the mounting! Corrected that before installing the new bulbs, dip heads are now fine!

The bulbs seem to be fitted ok, I double checked that. If anyone knows how to do that, I would appreciated. I rang Kwik Fit and they want to charge me £11.95 per light to do that. It seems overpriced for turning a screw or two...

I've just had a poke around under the bonnet.

The vertical headlight adjustment is very, very simple. 6mm hex key, white plastic adjuster directly behind the headlight. Turn CW to go up, CCW to go down. Simple as that. Made mine light up the road 2m further, so 5m or so instead of 3m.

Doesn't that mean you will now be dazzling and blinding every approaching driver?

absolutely not - it wasn't adjusted properly in the first place.

Fair enough, I take you are a qualified technician since you know the correct set up for lights geometry.

Can't comment on this particular argument, but when I took delivery of my new C220, which I understand is desig W204, in May, I felt that the dipped, and main for that matter, beams were set too low. Not yet done anything about it, but night driving last evening made me put it on the "to do" (or "to have done") list before the winter, so I sympathise/agree with 6cyl.

Similarly the screen washers, which are not adjustable (!) direct the jet to the bottom of the screen..............

Qualified technician ? As in MOT operator - No.
I go by experience and common sense. When the lights don't go much further than the front bumper, it is too low.

Thats fair enough, I wouldn't have a clue how to set the vertical / horizontal alignment, so hats off to you.

If you got it right, that is :)
