When I recently got my S204, I was let to understand, from VIN decoders, that it had heated seats. But I can see no buttons for this.

Do the decoders fire out wrong information or does my car have hidden controls

On my 2008 S204 it's code 873 (same on my SLK) and the on/off switches are above the heater controls.

Some decoder sites are less accurate than others.

It says it has a leather gear knob and carbon console but the gear knob is metal and the console is birds eye maple. It also refers to heated seats though and Avantgarde spec but I can see no controls for this.

Yes, the decoder refers to that code but I can see no switches above the heater controls, or anywhere else.

PM me your VIN. I'll look at what Parts Information says for your car.
Thanks Richard, pm'd [emoji106]

Assuming I need to buy a replacement panel, it's going to be hard to find one with the combination of switches I need. Can I get one which has most of the switches but also has blanking plates which I can replace with actual switches as necessary?

Looking on the internet for 2011 S204 heated seat switches, this is where they should be:

Thanks but mine is a 2011 car but a 2010/11 crossover model, with the black buttons

Ok, it now seems my car should have heated seats but the buttons are blanked off. Can I remove the blanking piece and fit switch in the space or do I need to buy a panel with all the right switches installed?

You may need seats and a wiring loom also.

Sorry, I didn't word that too well. What I'm asking is, regardless as to whether or not the seats work, can I take a blank piece from my panel and substitute a switch? All other things aside, will that work?

I think the switch panel is more like a control module, not separate switches, individually wired. The one in my S203 was a module with a single connector. The switches weren't demountable.

That makes sense thanks. My car should have switches for eco, parking and sport but it just has parking. I'm thinking (hoping) someone has switched out the panel, with whatever was cheap on ebay (and prior to selling) because something wasn't working properly. I'll book it into my local indy next week and get them to check it out.

Is there wiring to plug into the switches / buttons?

I won't know that until the garage has had a look. I was just trying to get my mind around what parts I might need at this stage.
