W204 parking brake handle slack

More fun with parking brake handles.

Pulled the handle, heard a noise, brake released, but the handle is now slack as wotsits and the footbrake won't lock on. The release is pulled on I'm guessing?

I've had the handle out, it complete and not broken, but the cable is very slack.

Took off lower drivers footwell panel to have a closer look. Cable is connected, spring on release is good and tight.

The only thing I can think is the cable end has pulled further in towards the holder? It's currently sitting inside like a U-shaped clip which maybe it should be on the edge or slightly more out?

Can anyone confirm with a diagram or picture of how it should be sat? This will show if it's not sat to provide tension for the lock maybe?

Found the culprit, black lever, looks a bit like an Allen key, had jumped. Pulled it out and it sprang down and into the slot.

Full tension and working perfectly again
